Platform Role
SeeImpact is a marketplace that connects donors with vetted nonprofit organizations. All payments are processed through Stripe Connect. Donations to US 501(c)(3) partners are paid to the partner's own Stripe account. Donations to partners without US nonprofit status are received by SEE IMPACT, INC, SeeImpact's nonprofit fiscal sponsor. The fiscal sponsor is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Donations
Donations to US 501(c)(3) partners are directed to that organization's Stripe account. Donations to partners supported through fiscal sponsorship are made to SEE IMPACT, INC, SeeImpact's nonprofit fiscal sponsor, which receives them for the partner's project and sends the funds to the partner by bank wire. As the recipient, the fiscal sponsor has discretion and control over the use of these donations, consistent with its charitable purposes. SeeImpact's platform fee and payment processing fees are deducted from each donation. SeeImpact does not guarantee that funds will be used for any specific purpose. Each organization is independently responsible for how it uses the funds it receives.
Refund Policy
Refunds of donations to US 501(c)(3) partners are handled by the receiving organization. Refunds of donations received by SEE IMPACT, INC, SeeImpact's nonprofit fiscal sponsor are handled by the fiscal sponsor. SeeImpact can assist in facilitating communication between donors and the receiving organization regarding refund requests.
Nonprofit Responsibilities
Nonprofits on SeeImpact agree to: maintain accurate organization information, use donations as described in their project campaigns, post regular updates on funded projects, and comply with all applicable tax and charity regulations.
User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Donor accounts are managed through Clerk authentication. Nonprofit accounts require organizational verification before activation.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the platform, submit false information, attempt to circumvent payment processing, or engage in any fraudulent activity. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Tax Information
Donations to verified US 501(c)(3) organizations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations to partners supported through fiscal sponsorship are made to SEE IMPACT, INC, SeeImpact's nonprofit fiscal sponsor, which is a 501(c)(3) organization, and may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. SeeImpact emails an automatic donation receipt for each donation, issued in the name of the organization that received it. SeeImpact does not provide tax advice. Consult a tax professional for guidance.
Limitation of Liability
SeeImpact is provided as-is. We are not liable for the actions of nonprofit organizations, payment processing failures handled by Stripe, or any indirect damages arising from use of the platform.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of SeeImpact after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
